A new season begins, and the 2017 season is about to get underway.
The NFL announced on Tuesday that its 2017 schedule will feature the first of four preseason games, starting on Thursday, Sept. 7.
There will be no game this year that does not begin on Thursday.
There are three more games scheduled to begin next season, including the opener between the Packers and the Vikings on Sept. 13.
Here are some of the highlights from the schedule: Thursday, Aug. 3 vs. Seattle Seahawks: The Seahawks will take on the Lions in what is sure to be a thrilling game.
The Seahawks won the NFC West last season and are the NFC’s top seed in the division.
Seattle will be the first team to face the Lions since they were the first franchise to face Green Bay in the league.
It will be Russell Wilson’s first game in the red-and-white.
The game will mark the first time the Seahawks have faced the Lions.
Wilson has thrown three touchdown passes this season.
Seattle has won three of its last four games.
The Vikings will be without quarterback Teddy Bridgewater, who was sidelined with an ankle injury for a week.
Bridgewater has thrown five touchdowns and two interceptions.
Seattle leads the NFC South with a 14-8 record.
The Lions will be led by defensive end Ezekiel Ansah, who has nine sacks.
Ansah is tied for second on the team with seven.
They have allowed a total of 30 points in the last three games, which is the second-most allowed in the NFL.
The last time the Lions played the Seahawks was in 2015, a 27-13 loss at Lambeau Field.
The final home game will be Sept. 1 at home against the Steelers, who are a division rival.
The Steelers have won nine of their last 10 games.
Detroit has scored at least 100 points in six of its past seven games, including three straight wins from Dec. 1-30.
The only game the Lions have lost at home is a 27.5-28.5 decision to the Chiefs on Dec. 14.
It’s also the last game Detroit will play without linebacker DeAndre Levy, who is expected to be out for at least the first five weeks with a sprained MCL.
Levy missed all of last season because of a neck injury.
The Packers will be hoping to keep their undefeated streak alive in 2017, which ended with a victory over the 49ers in Week 1.
The streak was snapped with a loss to San Francisco on Oct. 17.
The Panthers were the last team to beat the 49, who have lost five straight and nine of 10.
The Falcons, who finished the season with a 4-7 record, are a game behind the Panthers for the final wild-card spot in the NFC.
They beat the Vikings 31-24 on Sunday, ending a four-game losing streak.
The 49ers won’t have the Packers, who beat the Cardinals 23-21 on Monday night in overtime.
The Texans will host the Lions, who will be on the road for the first three games of the season.
The Bears will be looking to avoid their second consecutive loss.
They were blown out by the Vikings 23-20 in Week 10.
Their last loss was to the Steelers 17-10 in Week 14.
The Browns are coming off a win over the Steelers in Week 11.
The Raiders are coming out of a bye with a chance to take on a team that has been in the mix for the playoffs in each of the last two seasons.
The Cardinals are looking to rebound from a 4:3 defeat at home to the Titans in Week 12.
The Bengals have a chance at another win over a team they beat just once in 2017.
The Dolphins are coming back from a 1-3 start and will look to win their second straight home game.
They face the Texans in Week 13, and will also host the Packers on Sunday.
